Chukus Onwudinjo, Nigeria:
Another Nigerian
in trouble with the authorities working for General Sani Abacha.
This cartoon is a cartoon about the press itself. Government
had decided that a news report about a pending coup attempt constituted
a treasonous act. In the government controled press, the independant
press was presented as disloyal and threateneing to national
interests. "Oga" means a big man, or someone who thinks
he is. "Diya" was the editor who ran the piece.
