We at Hogan's Alley are the last people to advocate tobacco consumption. (We would rather spend our money on comics stuff.) However, comics characters--and their creators--were eager advocates for lighting up, regardless of age, gender or species. David Folkman's examination of smoking in the comics in Hogan's Alley #15 was exhaustive, but we have more material on hand than we could fit into the issue. Selling the Smokes Of course, finding cartoon-style ads that sell cigarettes is as hard as finding sand on the beach, so we've supplied a few that either amused us or impressed us with their artistry. But in either case, the sampling represented here is a drop in the spittoon.
